The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in India has been giving special importance to the skill-based subjects to enhance the overall learning experience of students. These skill subjects often have a practical component, and practical exams are conducted to assess students’ hands-on abilities in those specific skills 

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the practical examination dates for Classes 10 th and 12th . Candidates preparing for these exams can find the official notification on CBSE’s website at cbse.gov.in.

CBSE Skill Subject Practical Exam Guidelines

The new guidelines were issued by the CBSE to ensure all stakeholders adhere to them while conducting the exams. The guidelines are as follows: 

1. Ensure that a sufficient number of practical answer books have been received by the school before the scheduled date for the conduct of practical exams. 
2. Schools should inform parents and students regarding the schedule, format, and any specific requirements for the practical examinations. 
3. Ensure that the necessary arrangements like infrastructure, equipment, and materials are available in the laboratories for conducting practical exams. Reaffirm that the laboratories or facilities are adequately set up for students to perform their experiments. 
4. Contact the examiners well in time for smooth and timely conduct of the examination process on the scheduled date and time. 
5. Identify students with special needs or disabilities and make arrangements for necessary accommodations to ensure they can participate in the practical exams comfortably. 
6. The students should appear in the practical examinations as per the schedule only. 
7. The marks in respect of all Practical Examinations/Project/Internal Assessments shall be uploaded every day i.e. on the date of assessment.  
8. While uploading the marks, the school, the internal examiner and the external examiner should ensure that correct marks are uploaded. Check maximum marks assigned to practical/project/internal assessment and then award and upload the marks.  
9. For class 12, the schools are not authorized to make alternate arrangements for external examiners to conduct practical examination/project assessments at the local level. Practical examination can only be conducted by an external examiner appointed by the Board. 
10. No change in marks is allowed after finalization and completion of the process, so proper attention of both examiners is required to ensure the correctness of uploaded marks.  
11. In case, it is observed that directions of the Board have not been complied with by the schools, the Board reserves its right to cancel the Practical examination. 
12. No extension of the dates shall be considered by the Board.

2. Graphs and formulas are an integral part of the experiments, so students must practice them thoroughly.
3. Students must thoroughly revise the practical experiments and lab manuals before the exam.
4. Practising diagrams can help students visualize and prepare better for the exam.
5. It is very important that students know each and every theory, law, and principle behind the experiment.
6. Students are advised to remain calm and focused while performing the experiment so that they can document the entire procedure.
7. Before the experiments, students must clear all their doubts from their teachers.
8. Important viva questions must be noted and revised properly before the exam.
